ux: Process
My approach to UX is to discover needs and pain points, and then bring a solution to these problems. The key to being a successful UX designer is to have an effective and reliable process. I believe the best practices for user experience are by developing a clear understanding for users needs and behaviors, along with a better understanding of business goals. Then, balance and combine these user needs and business goals together. Always keeping the main goal in mind, which is to create a seamless product that makes users needs a main priority. This approach might involve any or all of the following:
Strategy/Research
The Discover Stage. Here I gather data and research,to understand users and define business goals.
- Brand Analysis
- Stakeholder Interviews
- Data Analysis
- Competitive and Comparative Analysis
- Contextual Inquiry
- User Interviews
- User Testing
- Surveys
- Heuristic Analysis
Synthesis
The Define Stage. Here I turn insights into action by analyzing data. Discovering trends and correlations, interpreting findings, and defining problems is how I identify these insights. DIG DEEP and ALWAYS ASK WHY?!
- Affinity Maps
- Feature Prioritization
- Persona Creations
- Use Cases
- User Scenarios
- Card Sorting
- User Journeys
Design
The Develop Stage. Here I ideate solutions by sketching wireframes, creating prototypes, conducting usability tests, and by iterating based on feedback. Then I refine(simplicity is key) and repeat. Finally, I build a final prototype, work with team members, and developers to help deliver the final product.
